'Porch pirate' strikes in South Tampa
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Tampa police are investigating at least one package theft from a South Tampa home, but neighbors believe there may be more incidents.
Wednesday, a surveillance camera at a Culbreath Heights home captured a man stealing a delivery from Jeremy Selbst’s porch. He called police.
“It was just a petit theft but the fact that somebody you know trespassed into our property. It's more of a violation. That makes us feel uncomfortable,” said Selbst.
Selbst says the package was only worth about $30. It was an iPad case and a keychain, but he worries more expensive items may be targeted.
Neighbors also shared in a community watch group that other people have had packages go missing. It’s unclear if police believe the man seen on video has targeted other South Tampa homes.
Police say the man is in his 30s or 40s, about 5-foot 8-inches tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds.
Anyone with information is asked to call Tampa police.
