Sandy tribute to Barbara Bush at Sugar Sand Festival
CLEARWATER BEACH (FOX 13) - One of the sand sculptors at this year's Sugar Sand Festival on Clearwater Beach has carved a sculpture of former first lady Barbara Bush.
The theme of this year's festival is "a celebration of America’s treasures," and most people agree that Mrs. Bush – who passed away this week at age 92 – certainly was an American treasure.
“It's relevant,” offered sculptor Raymond Wirick. “If you remember a couple of years ago, Prince passed away while we were working on the project and we did a memorial to him as well.”
This is the last weekend of Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival on Clearwater Beach, so if you haven't seen it yet, time is running out.
