Snowstorm brings together volunteers to help seniors
CHICAGO - About a dozen volunteers came from different neighborhoods of Chicago, and shoveled sidewalks and stairs from 74th to 69th and Princeton.
The organization was recently awarded $30,000 in goods and services with Mazda’s Drive for Good contest on NBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center”.
Chicago has been called “the most racially segregated city in the country”, and many residents identify themselves by their immediate geographical and community boundaries. Instead of Chicago it is Lincoln Park, Hyde Park, South Side, Englewood.
My Block, My Hood, My City is “on a mission to empower youth to reach their greatest potential by expanding their worldview through explorations in their own backyard.”
