Son's letter gets Tampa mom a car for Mother's Day
TAMPA (FOX 13) - A son surprised his mom with a new set of wheels for Mother’s Day.
Every year, RNR Tire Express in Tampa takes submissions for deserving mothers to receive the ultimate Mother’s Day gift, and this year they were moved by an emotional letter written by Tim Brown about his mother, Vicky Crider.
“She’s currently driving an old truck that every morning before work she has to fill it with antifreeze and water. She fills up an extra jug so that she can get back home at the end of the day,” says RNR Vice President of Marketing Randy Cabrera.
RNR executives contacted Brown to let him know that his letter was chosen as the winner, and the plan was in motion.
Crider spotted the cameras as soon as she entered the store, but it wasn’t long before she was behind the wheel of her new Ford Taurus testing out the bells and whistles, and wondering if the seat went up any higher.
She called the vehicle a blessing that will allow her reliable transportation to visit her family.
“I can use it to see my grandson. I don't have to worry about going places and breaking down, or putting leak stop until I can afford to fix it. It's going to make a big change,” said Crider.
Along with the car, Crider will also enjoy free oil changes for the next two years.
