Surveillance camera thieves caught on the cameras they stole

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying two thieves who stole surveillance cameras from a Winter Haven home on Tuesday.

Surveillance video from the very same cameras that were stolen shows both suspects as they committed the crime.

According to police, the two male suspects entered the property on 5th Street SE at 9:51 a.m. They can be seen in the video on the home's front porch. One suspect appears to knock on the door to see if anyone was home. Moments later, the two go to separate areas of the home and take two surveillance cameras.

Because the cameras record to an independent storage device, they continued to record as the thieves removed them and fled.

Winter Haven PD posted the surveillance video on their facebook page asking the public to share the video in hopes of identifying the two suspects.

One commenter on the video said, "They're always walking around 5th street and Ave G. During the day," referring to the pair of thieves.

Anyone with information on their identity is asked to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
