Teens arrested for string of violent robberies
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Two teenagers are accused in a string of violent robberies that happened early Sunday morning.
Nicholas Gillham, 18, and Jaiohn Mills, 15 are facing a slew of felony charges after they allegedly robbed three people in Hillsborough County.
Deputies said the first two robberies were shortly before 1:00 a.m. at the Foxcroft apartments off Dale Mabry Highway.
The first victim, Vanessa Martinez, was walking from her car to her apartment when the suspects robbed her at gunpoint. She was pistol-whipped several times and suffered facial fractures, deputies said.
During that investigation, a man was robbed while he walked up to his friend's apartment in the same complex. Deputies said the suspects threatened to kill the victim if his friend didn't open the apartment door. When the victim's friend refused, the teens fired multiple rounds through the door, hitting the resident in the thigh.
Shortly after, a third robbery happened nearby in the Whisper Lake condos. Investigators said a man was robbed, struck and shot at by the suspects.
Following the third robbery, deputies were able to quickly surround the teens and both of them were taken into custody. Authorities said they haven't located the gun used by the teens.
