A woman called St. Pete police when it seemed her toddler found an old grenade on a beach on the intercoastal, near Treasure Island.

After St. Pete PD officers, the Tampa Bomb Squad and the fire department arrived to investigate, they quickly realized it was a toy. But they say she did the right thing.

The woman called police Friday morning when her 3-year-old son found what appeared to be an old grenade on the private beach area behind a vacant home at 2834 Pelham Rd N. A photo of the object was covered with sand and appeared to be damaged.

Thankfully, officers retrieved the object and realized it was plastic.
