A University of North Texas historian is aiming to set a Guinness world record.

Historian Andrew Torget is attempting to deliver the longest history lecture. He started at 9 a.m. Friday and has enough material to continue his lesson until 3 p.m Saturday.

The biggest challenge -- keeping his voice. He can only take a five minute break every hour.

“Andrew has always wanted to be in the Guinness Book of World Records,” UNT spokeswoman Leigh Anne Gullett. She said he talked about the book with his young children and they thought it would be cool if he was in there with a record.

There are representatives from Guinness present and monitoring to make sure all of the rules are met.

It's not just a marathon for Torget -- 10 of his students are required to be in it for the long haul as well.

The UNT Libraries System is using the world record attempt to raise funds to support its online archive of Texas history.
