TAMPA, Fla. - What started as a routine traffic stop led to a chase that ended with a pickup truck crashing into a boardwalk late Thursday morning, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
According to deputies, Adam Christopher Pilling, 38, drove off during a traffic stop near Branch Forbes Road north of I-4.
Deputies said they then used stop sticks in an effort to end the pursuit, but he continued driving for several miles.
The sheriff's office launched its helicopter to help deputies as the chase continued along U.S. 92, according to HCSO.
Video from the chopper shows the truck sideswiping another car, then veering off the road into the boardwalk.
Deputies took Pilling into custody moments later.

"The incident highlights the teamwork and dedication of our patrol deputies and Aviation Section, who worked seamlessly to track and arrest a suspect determined to evade the law," Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said.
"Thanks to their (Aviation Section’s) swift actions, we resolved this situation without further harm to our community," Chronister added.
