A purported Polk porch pirate was arrested Thursday, just hours after video of the crime was shared on TV and social media.

Elise Rosa of Davenport is accused of stealing Amazon packages from the Davenport Estates and Legacy Park subdivisions of Davenport.  Between last Tuesday and Wednesday, deputies say, five homeowners reported their deliveries were stolen.

One of the thefts was caught on home surveillance video, and Thursday morning, deputies shared that footage.  It wasn’t long before a CrimeStoppers tip led detectives to Rosa, who allegedly confessed.

Rosa, 18, is charged with four counts of unoccupied residential burglary, one count of occupied residential burglary, and five counts of petit theft.

"Porch pirates follow delivery trucks around in residential neighborhoods looking to steal your packages. This crime can occur any time of the year, but it’s more likely to occur now due to the holidays approaching,” Sheriff Grady Judd warned. “Please be mindful when you order online -- sign up to track your packages, have packages delivered to a locked mailbox or your work address, arrange to be home when the package is delivered, or ask a trusted neighbor to pick up your package."
