A 10-year-old girl is making and selling flip flops, but not to make money for herself. Her business venture is aimed at helping other children.

Michelina Damianakis spent more than $1,000 from sales of her Love Floppies to buy toys for children at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg.

She got the idea after a nurse gave her a doll when she was in the hospital.

"When I got that toy, I just exploded inside. I was so happy," said Damianakis.

She designed and sold flip flops for $10 to buy the toys.

"I'm just very proud of Michelina. I think kids helping kids is really a special thing, and I hope that she would want to continue to do this in the future," said her mother, Lisa Damianakis.
