Secret weapons: Allen, Curry suit up against former teammates Sunday

Fresh off a Super Bowl title and a successful season opener, the champs of the NFL are coming.

The question is, are the Philadelphia Eagles the same team that beat Tom Brady and the Patriots?

The Eagles are missing two players from their defensive front, Beau Allen and Vinny Curry, who will put on the pewter and red this Sunday.

"I don't think they have me on their team," joked former Eagle turned Bucs defensive tackle, Beau Allen. "It’s definitely not chummy this week... We’ve got a football game to play and I really want to beat them.”

"I'm trying to not answer the phone this week," laughed former Eagle turned Bucs defensive end, Vinny Curry.

Jason Pierre-Paul didn't play for Philly, but he feels like he knows them almost as well. JPP got to face them twice a year, playing for their rival, the Giants for eight seasons.

However, he's most excited to see what the former Eagles have in store for their old team.

"If I was those guys I'd have a chip on my shoulder, said Pierre-Paul. "You let me go. I'm coming out there to show you that you should have never let me go. (If I was them) I want to hear my name on the intercom as much as possible."

The Eagles may have the "Philly Special," but the Bucs have two secret weapons in Beau Allen and Vinny Curry. They hope to help their new team get inside the minds of the Philadelphia Eagles.

“They’re a great resource for us," Coach Mike Smith said. "They know a bunch of guys on that team. They’ve been able to give us information to what we think will help us as we go forward. It will be an emotional game for those guys as well. We want to be even-keeled as much as possible because it’s going to be another battle. They’re a really good football team.”

“I’m pretty sure they’re going to switch some things up," said Curry. "I’m pretty sure they’re going to try to attack me and attack Beau in some type of way because you’ve been there for so many years and your whole career, so they know your tendencies as well – just as much as you know theirs. At the end of the day, it’s their whole offense. Not just one player. At the end of the day, you can’t get outside yourself – Coach [Mike] Smith has a great game plan and today we’re just going to work on it.”
