2023 hurricane season likely to be quiet
FOX 13 Meteorologist Tyler Eliasen says despite Tropical Storm Arlene, this hurricane season isn?t expected to be overly active as we transition to an El Nino. He says there are no signs of anything developing in the tropics over the next week. However, he reminds everyone of the importance of staying vigilant because it only takes one bad storm to make it a bad hurricane season.

Tropics to remain quiet for next week
Though it is early into the 2023 hurricane season, there may be activity in the tropics as we saw with Tropical Storm Arlene, which formed last week, but FOX 13 Meteorologist Tyler Eliasen says nothing is expected to develop over the next seven days. Eliasen adds that he thinks we will see fewer named storms than we have seen in the last three or four years due to wind shear tied to the developing El Nino. However, he cautions that if we get just one bad storm, it will be considered a bad year regardless of the number that form.

Tropical development unlikely despite Atlantic disturbance
We are one storm into hurricane season and FOX 13 Meteorologist Dave Osteberg says we usually only see about 6% of activity in June and he says it is unlikely we?ll see anything develop thanks to a Saharan dust cloud and drier air. However, Osterberg adds that there is one area of disturbance by the Azores. He says it only has a 10% chance of forming over the next week and if it did develop it would not impact the United States.
