SEBRING (FOX 13) - A dog and ten horses were rescued in Highlands County.
Animal Services and the county’s agriculture unit teamed up on Wednesday afternoon to rescue all animals from flooding at Lakeside Stables on U.S. Highway 98 in Sebring.
The nearby creek, Arbuckle Creek, had risen to historic levels which trapped the horses in the barn. They were on a small hill that fortunately stayed above water, said the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office.
The agency shared photos and video of the rescue. The horses were led out through the high waters that rose up to their chests. They were all loaded on a trailer and taken to a dry stable until the water recedes.
The dog was seen paddling through the flood “doing her best to be Michael Phelphs,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
