Tropical Storm Gaston forms
TAMPA (FOX 13) - While Tropical Depression Fiona spins out to sea, forecasters say the seventh tropical storm of the season, Gaston, has developed far over the Atlantic.
Gaston is forecast to strengthen steadily Tuesday and could become a hurricane by Wednesday. However, it will remain well out to sea even by the weekend.
The storm's maximum sustained winds are 40 mph. It is 450 miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and is moving west-northwest at 18 mph.
"The good news is a track well east of the U.S. is expected at this time but Bermuda should keep a close eye," FOX 13 meteorologist Lindsay Milbourne blogged.
Still, FOX 13 chief meteorologist Paul Dellegatto warned, that's a long way off.
"A lot will change between now and then," he offered. "Pay attention to see how this plays out."
