Experience the African safari, animals in Lakeland
LAKELAND (FOX 13) - There is a chance for you to go on a safari ride, without having to go all the way to Africa.
The Safari Wilderness is in the Green Swamp in Lakeland. It’s a 260-acre ranch with over 500 animals.
They have a couple of special safaris they’ve added for the summertime. One is called the Young Explorers’ Safari, which includes a 45-minute guided bus tour through the African and Asian pastures. Meet zebra, water buffalo, llamas, watusi cattle and barasingha deer. Then they take a short walking tour to meet ring-tailed lemurs, red-ruffed lemurs, coatis and kune kune pigs.
Something else being offered this summer is called the Sunset Safari which goes out in the evening and guests can enjoy the sunset from the tree house overlook area.
