Fun workouts -- for everyone from kids to 'ninja warriors'
PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - ‘American Ninja Warrior’ championships are usually held in Las Vegas, but you don't have to travel that far to feel like a champion, or even practice like one. All you need is a tank of gas.
"Definitely American Ninja Warrior creates a lot of excitement around what we do. People look at the obstacles and somewhere in the back of their mind is that idea that ‘I can do that,’" Jason Bergstrom told FOX 13 News.
Bergstorm and his wife started Jungle Gym in Pinellas Park right off of Park Drive, east of Alternate 19. Their gym specializes in the American Ninja Warrior, Parkour-style of fitness.
"A lot of gyms give you a workout that is boring. It's kind of like eating your vegetables. You know you have to do it but it’s not something you look forward to every day. We work hard to create something that is different, something that fun and somewhere you want to be at," Bergstrom said.
A big focus is the kids ages 4 and up. They have "open gym" for the adults and will add classes for the "bigger kids.”
"Everyone can come to the same place at the same time and work out. When you’re a parent, that’s the challenge. Either my kids work out or I work out and get a babysitter for them. Just not enough hours in the day to take care of school, bedtimes, dinner, school work – well, we want to cater to the whole family," Bergstorm continued.
Jungle Gym will also be adding a preschool class for 3-year-olds and older and already has turned into a destination for birthday parties.
