A Bay Area animal shelter is taking part in a national fundraising competition where the winner will receive $50,00 in addition to the money they raise.

The Humane Society of Polk County wants to win that money. They say if they raise the most for the “Saving Pets Fundraising Challenge,” they can win the challenge. They are taking donations as little as $10 until May 31.

A microchipping company, called Michelson Found Animals, has been holding the competition for five years allowing shelters to compete to raise money for themselves.
