Mr. Dunderbak's embraces both German, American cultures

Charley’s World Cup week continues at Mr. Dunderbak’s in Tampa.

The German restaurant says it is Tampa’s oldest European craft beer bar and brewery. They strive to bring flavors from Bavaria, but with a little bit of America incorporated in its dishes, according to its website.

It was first founded in 1974 at the University Mall on Fowler Avenue as a franchise store. In 2009, it moved to its current Tampa Palms location, and added a microbrewery. Over the years, the menu got the bigger, continuing to see the Bay Area for over four decades.

World Cup fans showed up Tuesday morning to watch the World Cup games. Germany played Tuesday, and the defending World Cup champion was eliminated after losing to Mexico.
