10-time felon arrested for having 11 pounds of pot, deputies say

A 10-time convicted felon was arrested Monday on drug charges after being caught with 11 pounds of marijuana, four grams of Oxycodone, more than $3,000 cash, a 9mm pistol, and plastic packaging bags in his car, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

HCSO released multiple mug shots of the suspect as well as photos of what appears to be bagged marijuana and pills, and a handgun.

Deputies said they arrested Matthew Cottle after he was pulled over driving a Jaguar vehicle near Heather Lakes Boulevard and Lumsden Road.

Deputies said they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. They conducted a search and found the drugs and firearm, according to HCSO.

Cottle now faces several charges including possession of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance, and felon in possession of a firearm.
