11 DUIs in Pinellas County overnight operation

 Local and state law enforcement is cracking down on drunk drivers as we head into the holiday week.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, along with Florida Highway Patrol and several area police departments, conducted a DUI Wolfpack operation throughout Pinellas County overnight Saturday.

From 8 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday,
11 drivers, including one motorcyclist, were cited for DUI.

Other criminal charges issued include:

3 Misdemeanor Driving while license suspended and/or revoked with knowledge

1 Possession of a Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor)

1 Motorcycle Endorsement Violation

1 Fleeing and Eluding

17 Total Charges

Citations:

15 Driving while License Suspended and/or Revoked with Knowledge

40 Speeding

1 Open container driver

9 No Insurance

30 Other non-moving violations

38 Other moving violations

1 Violation DL Restrictions

1 Seat belt violation

Drivers on the road during the holiday week are encouraged to plan ahead if they intend to drink, by having a designated driver.

The operation was part of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office on-going commitment to "reduce
deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related
to impaired driving," according to officials.

Other assisting agencies included the Clearwater Police Department, Gulfport Police Department, Largo Police Department, St. Petersburg Police Department and Tarpon Springs Police Department.
