$18,000 reward for beach nest vandals
The reward for the people who ran over protected sea turtle nests last weekend has ballooned to more than $18,000.
The money comes from Crimestoppers, PETA, various environmental groups, and even a private person who will pitch in $10,000.
Last weekend, a man and woman on an ATV ran over five roped-off sea turtle nests and three black skimmer chicks. All three chicks died; we won't know if any turtle eggs were destroyed until the fall when they're due to hatch.
