Twin sisters, 5, die after being pulled from Kissimmee vacation home pool, authorities say

Editor's note: The Osceola County Sheriff's Office initially reported that both children were boys, but later corrected that information. The victims were twin girls.

Twin 5-year-old girls died after they were pulled from a swimming pool at a Kissimmee home Friday morning, authorities said.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. at a residence in the 4700 block of Ruby Lane, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

What we know:

Deputies responded after receiving a 911 call reporting two children found unresponsive in a pool. The girls were transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, where both were pronounced dead.

The victims were identified as twin sisters whose family was visiting Central Florida from an area near Atlanta, Georgia, investigators said.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said homicide detectives are investigating what they are calling a drowning, which is standard procedure in child death cases. 

What we don't know:

No other details about the incident have been released.

The Orange-Osceola Medical Examiner's Office will determine the girls' cause and manner of death.
