5-year-old found in water in S St. Pete

UPDATE: The child found in the water has passed away. St. Petersburg police have identified him as Jamirreeus Broward. They say the family was fishing at Poynter Park at 1002 3rd Street South. The mother noticed Jamirreeus was missing just before 7 p.m. and called police. St. Pete's dive team located the child in the water about 30 minutes later. Paramedics performed CPR and transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

St. Pete police say a missing 5-year-old was found in the water after last being seen on the sea wall near 3rd Street S. 

Police said they got a call just before 7 p.m. about the missing boy.

A family says they were fishing and the child was last seen on the sea wall.

Police responded to 801 3rd Street South near the Poynter Institute of Media Studies.

Police found the child in the water. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
