8-year-old accused of robbing Florida store at gunpoint
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Police in West Palm Beach say a clerk was held up by a suspect no one expected to have a gun. He was just 8-years-old.
The clerk at King Foods and Meat Bazaar said the boy walked up to the cashier and pointed a gun at him, hidden underneath a sweater. "He told the cashier, 'Give me the f-ing money," said a clerk, who did not want to be identified.
The boy was wearing a motorcycle helmet and a sweater over his mouth. Witnesses said only his eyes were showing.
The clerk and another employee quickly sprung into action. "All of a sudden I'm so shocked. I don't know if it's a real gun or if it's a fake gun, but my priority is to take it away from him because I don't know. I just turned his wrist and took it out from his hand. At that point, the other coworker of mine grabbed him," said the clerk.
The 8-year-old tried to escape the grasp of the clerk.
Investigators said he had stolen the gun from his mother. He was hospitalized for his own well being, police said.
