Alleged serial robber caught after crashing in Haines City
HAINES CITY (FOX 13) - A man who is believed to be responsible for a string of armed robberies in Polk County was arrested Friday night.
According to police, Clemente Gandy, 42, robbed the Sunoco gas station on US Highway 27 in Haines City around 9:30 p.m. It would have been his seventh robbery in Haines City and nearby Osceola County.
After the robbery, Gandy's pickup truck was spotted by a Polk County deputy. He fled from deputies and eventually crashed at Ronald Regan Parkway and Highway 547.
Gandy was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries from the crash. He is facing several felony charges, with additional charges pending.
