Bartow police: Woman kills self in Walmart parking lot

Police said a woman killed herself inside a vehicle in a Bartow Walmart parking lot Wednesday morning.

Bartow police officers responded to a report of a possible shooting in the store's parking lot around 10:20 a.m.

Investigators discovered the body of a 67-year-old woman in the passenger seat of a vehicle, and said she suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A family member who was inside of the store at the time of the incident told detectives the woman was "distraught over ongoing medical issues," police said.

Police did not identify the woman.
