Battery operated SunPass to discontinue in Dec.

TAMPA (FOX 13) - Beginning in December, the battery operated SunPass will no longer work.

The electronic toll equipment will longer register the transactions. Instead, to make way for the newer technology, motorists who still have them are being urged to swap them out with the new SunPass Mini or SunPass Portable.

These devices will eventually be compatible with electronic toll programs in other states.

SunPass is allowing customers to swap devices at no cost, which you can do here.

The battery operated SunPass will no longer work after Dec. 31.
