Bryan Glazer Family Jewish Community Center opens in former Tampa Armory

The completely renovated historic Fort Homer W. Hesterly Armory building opened Thursday as the Bryan Glazer Family Jewish Community Center.

Tampa Bay area elected officials and other leaders attended a ribbon cutting for the center, which has more than 100,000 square feet of community space, including a gym, spa, cafe, and theater.

The state-of-the-art facility includes a fine arts center operated by the City of Tampa in conjunction with the Tampa Museum of Art in partnership with the Hillsborough County Board of Commissioners.

There is also a fitness center with indoor track and multi-sport gymnasium, a fully equipped outdoor aquatic center, and a a social service center operated by Tampa Jewish Family Services and the Florida-Israel Business Accelerator.

The new JCC is a welcome addition to the growing area just north of Kennedy Boulevard, giving a new life to the once-vacant Tampa Armory building.
