Cameras capture close calls, wrecks at red lights in New Port Richey
NEW PORT RICHEY (FOX 13) - Alert today, alive tomorrow; that's the message being spread by the New Port Richey Police Department along with a video of near-misses and collisions at red lights.
In a video posted on the NPRPD Facebook page, vehicles can be seen speeding toward intersections where red lights indicate stopped traffic.
However, cars and trucks continue forward, running into the backs of other stopped vehicles, swerving to miss oncoming traffic, and crashing into the side of passing cars.
The video highlights the need to be alert at all times while driving. Whether a driver is drowsy or looking down at a cell phone, distracted driving could lead to an accident like the ones in the video.
