The 37th Annual Lakeland Christmas Parade is Thursday night, but by Thursday morning, residents have already staked out their spot.

A line of empty chairs already strapped down were spotted along the sidewalks, but city officials advised against it because handicapped people could find it difficult to travel on the sidewalk.

The annual parade is a popular event for the city of Lakeland. It will begin at 7 p.m. and expected to last for at least two hours. The parade will leave the RP Funding Center and make its way down Lemon Street, and will travel throughout downtown Lakeland. The city said to keep an eye out for their special guests, Santa and Mrs. Claus.

A fireworks display will take place at 7 p.m. over Lake Mirror.
