Cortnee Brantley arrested days ahead of turning self in

Cortnee Brantley was arrested for domestic violence early Saturday morning, just days before she was scheduled to turn herself in to serve prison time.

Brantley is the ex-girlfriend of Dontae Morris, who killed two Tampa police officers during a traffic stop in the summer of 2010. She was with Morris and driving the vehicle that was stopped by Officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab.

Brantley had been fighting her conviction for misprision of a felony, but she lost the appeal and will serve one year of prison time. She was ordered to turn herself in by Monday, Jan. 4.

According to Hillsborough County deputies, Brantley got into an argument with her girlfriend around 5:30 a.m., after her "going away" party.

Brantley allegedly battered her girlfriend and damaged the victim's vehicle using a concrete block. Deputies said a nearby witness helped the victim call 911.

Brantley was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. She's charged with felony criminal mischief and domestic violence.

It's unclear how Brantley's arrest will affect the start of her prison sentence.
