Crews clean-up after water main break in East Falls
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) SkyFox flew over the gushing waters surrounding Friday night shoppers in Philadelphia's East Falls section.
This shopping center on the 2800 block of Fox Street turned into a lake when a 48-inch water main failed.
“They had boats and everything. It was unbelievable,” one shopper told FOX 29.
First responders rescued shoppers by boat. There were about 75 rescues total.
Fannie Gee got help, too.
"They came in just now and put me in a wheelchair and brought me out to my car with my groceries," she explained.
The water department says it was conducting valve operations to reduce water flow while trying to figure out which of 4 mains broke and how to turn the water off.
This is the fourth time this location has been flooded out.
The water department says they are trying to locate which main broke. No injuries have been reported.
