Cyclist rides 29,604 miles in 4 months, beats world record

Amanda Coker rode through the finish line with tears in her eyes as a crowd full of family and friends cheered her on at Flatwoods Park.

The 24-year-old beat the Ultra Marathon Cycling Association's record for the highest annual miles for a woman.

Just after 9 o'clock this morning she rode her 29,604th mile, and she did it in four months.

The original record was set by Billie Fleming-Dovey in 1938.

What makes Amanda's story even more incredible is that five years ago, she suffered a horrible cycling accident and thought she would never ride again.

A car hit Amanda from behind causing traumatic brain and spinal injuries. But after countless surgeries, rehabilatation, and determination she, made her dream come true.

Amanda has been logging over 200 miles each day at Flatwoods Park and she doesn't plan on stopping. She wants to see how many miles she can log in a year and says she will be back out on the trail every day through May 14.
