Data breach reported at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Customers who have visited Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen restaurants may want to double check their bank accounts.
The Orlando-based restaurant said there was a data breach that could have exposed the credit card, and other payment information, of more than 560,000 customers across 23 states, reports the Orlando Sentinel. It would impact people that visited the restaurants between November 2, 2017 to January 2, 2018.
Darden Restaurants Inc. -- the parent company for Cheddar’s -- said it learned of the breach on August 16, according to the Sentinel.
“The trust our guests place in us is something we take very seriously, and we regret that this incident occurred,” Darden Restaurants said in a statement to the Sentinel. “We deeply value our relationships with our guests, and our priority is to assist those who may have been impacted by this incident.”

Darden purchased the Cheddar’s chain in April 2017. The Sentinel reports the breach involved the point-of-sale machines that were part of Cheddar’s before they purchased the chain.
Multiple Cheddar’s restaurants can be found across Florida, and heavily in Tampa Bay. Locations include Brooksville, Lutz, Lakeland, Tampa and Pinellas Park.
