Deputies: 20-year-old critical after accidental shooting

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said a man was critically injured in an accidental shooting early Sunday morning.

The incident happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. at a home on the 3000 block of Saffold Road in Wimauma.

According to investigators, there was a gathering of about 15 people at the property when the shooting happened. Deputies said the person who shot the 20-year-old may have been unloading the gun when it went off.

The unidentified victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He is in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital.

The incident remains under investigation, but no foul play is suspected, HCSO said.
