Deputies identify man who died in St. Pete condo fire

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - Officials in Pinellas County have identified the victim in a deadly condominium fire. 

The blaze happened around 9 p.m. Friday at a unit on Parkside Villas Drive North in St. Petersburg.

Multiple residents who called 911 reported hearing an explosion when the fire broke out.

Firefighters said heavy fire was coming from the condo when they got on scene. They found 66-year-old Anthony Sabino unresponsive inside the home. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Sabino had apparently sent text messages to a family member recently making threats to hurt himself.
