MADEIRA BEACH (FOX 13) - Two men are wanted in Pinellas County for illegally using a bow and arrow to shoot fish off the docks at Don’s Dock early Sunday morning. Deputies say they killed at least eight fish, including some that were undersized.
“It is just sad, man. They got no skill whatsoever. They're pretty low to do that,” said fisherman Matt Royce.
In addition to hunting out of season, it’s also illegal to use a bow and arrow to catch snook.
“The snook is one of our most prized fish in Florida,” said Adam Turner, manager of Don’s Dock. “To see them trespass on the dock and shoot snook in the water is not calling yourself a fisherman,” he said.
Deputies say the suspects may have been driving a white Ford Ranger pickup. Deputies are investigating and hope someone can offer information.
“This is a big boating community and we're not going to tolerate this type of illegal activity,” said Cpl. Dan DiFrancesco, a spokesman for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
