Deputies: Son killed elderly Alzheimer's patient, then himself
INVERNESS (FOX 13) - Deputies in Citrus County are investigating what they suspect was a murder-suicide.
Monday evening, deputies say, they received a 911 call about a possible murder-suicide at a home on Daly Lane in the Inverness Highlands. Inside, they found two bodies, identified as Kay Renner, 89, and her son, Jerry Lee Mone, 69.
According to the sheriff's office, notes left at the scene by Mone indicate that his mother had advanced stages of Alzheimer's and that he was having extreme difficulty caring for her. They say it appears Mone shot his mother and then shot himself, however, detectives are waiting on autopsy reports from the medical examiner's office.
