Dog, shot during burglary, now recovering
CLEARWATER (FOX 13) - A dog that was shot in the head during a home burglary is now recuperating after undergoing surgery.
Doctors at the Blue Pearl vet hospital in Clearwater removed the bullet from 'Anubis.' He was shot by a burglar Monday at his home on 15th Street S in St. Petersburg.
His owner says he came home and found his sliding glass door broken and the 5-year-old Rhodesian ridgeback covered in blood.
"When I saw he was alive, that in of itself was joyous and everything else didn't matter," Chip Watson said.
Vets say the dog is very lucky that the bullet missed his vital organs.
Investigators say no arrests have been made in the case.
