Dolphin tangled in crab trap freed by rescuers
VENICE, Fla. - A bottlenose dolphin is free after rescuers were able to get him out of a crab trap line.
The 10-year-old dolphin was entangled in the lines Wednesday morning and was freed by rescuers from Mote Marine.
He was first spotted tangled in the line just north of Venice Inlet on Monday. The rescue team was able to remove the line that was wrapped around the dolphins tail before it caused any serious injury.
Mote says the dolphin is a long-term resident of Sarasota Bay.
