Driver arrested in Lakeland hit-and-run
LAKELAND (FOX 13) - The Polk County Sheriff's Office has arrested the driver who fled the scene after hitting an 11-year-old girl Friday afternoon.
Deputies located 33-year-old William Hull Friday evening. Detectives said tips from the public led them to Hull, who was driving an older-model white pickup truck with a stripe down the hood when the victim was hit.
Deputies said 11-year-old Trinity Hamilton was walking on the shoulder of Idlewild Street near Leslie Drive just before the incident.
Hamilton was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa with serious injuries. She is expected to recover.
"From the first witness who saw the crash and rendered aid to the victim to the tipsters who saw the photos of the suspect truck and pointed us right to it, we are so appreciative to our citizens who work with us every day to help us solve crime!" Sheriff Grady Judd said.
