Driver involved in deadly crash has prior DUI arrests
PLANT CITY (FOX 13 NEWS) - Doctors at Tampa General Hospital say the condition of an 8 year-old girl has improved, but her 9 year-old brother remains in critical condition following a crash in Plant City Thursday night that killed their mother.
State troopers say 45-year-old Maria Luisa Olivas died when her pick-up flipped over after being struck by a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Brian A. Defreitas of Lakeland.
He is in the Hillsborough County jail charged with D-U-I manslaughter.
Records show he has been arrested for D-U-I at least twice in the past and has been cited several times for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
State troopers say he held a valid drivers license at the time of the crash Thursday night.
