FHP: Bradenton pedestrian critically injured in hit-and-run

A pedestrian had critical injuries after a vehicle’s left mirror hit him, troopers said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Johnnie Schoolfield, 19, of Bradenton, was walking north in the 5900 block of 12th Street East in the roadway. That's when the left mirror of an unknown vehicle hit him in the head. He landed in a ditch located on the east side of the roadway. The crash occurred before 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Schoolfield was transported to Blake Medical Hospital.

Troopers said the vehicle fled in an unknown direction and they ask anyone with information on the crash to call (941) 751-8350 or call 1-800-780-8477 to submit a tip anonymously.
