FHP searching for 2 SUVs in deadly hit-and-run
ELFERS (FOX 13) - The Florida Highway Patrol said a woman was killed in a hit-and-run in Pasco County Friday night, and they are searching for two SUVs connected to it.
The incident started with a disturbance at the RaceTrac gas station on State Road 54 near Madison Street in the Elfers area.
Troopers said a woman, identified as 35-year-old Janet Emile, was hanging half way out the passenger window of a Chevrolet Tahoe as it was leaving the gas station.
Moments later, Emile fell out of the Tahoe and onto State Road 54. She was then struck by another vehicle, believed to be a Ford SUV, that was traveling westbound on 54.
Emile was rushed to Trinity Hospital, where she died.
The drivers of both SUVs fled the scene, FHP said. The Tahoe is described as a blue 2000-2002 model. The Ford SUV should have left front or undercarriage damage.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact FHP.
