Float party happens without expected commotion
ST. PETE BEACH (FOX 13) - A controversial float party took place on St. Pete Beach Sunday, but didn't garner the expected crowds or trouble which city officials worried about.
St. Pete Beach Mayor Maria Lowe wrote on Facebook that nearly 2,500 people attended the event.
Pinellas County deputies said there were no major incidents.
The mayor of St. Pete Beach and local rapper Forgiato Blow appeared on Good Day Tampa Bay Saturday morning to discuss Blow's planned float party.
Blow invited thousands of people to bring floats and take over the beach behind the Don CeSar Hotel on Sunday.
Mayor Maria Lowe and Blow's discussion became tense Saturday morning as the two went back and forth about the cleanup, portable bathrooms and parking problems.
Lowe said she will wait until Monday morning to see the aftermath of the float party. She has repeatedly encouraged Blow to get a permit and properly plan the event.
