Florida officer wrangles python
PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. - An officer in South Florida rounded up an unusual suspect in Pembroke Pines Thursday night.
Police received a call about a large Burmese python and Officer Joseph Cabrera responded to secure the 12-and-a-half-foot long snake, the city told the Miami Herald.
Officer Cabrera was able to secure take the slithery suspect into custody and transport it to the police department until a python remover arrived, police tweeted.
"Snakes are not an uncommon sight to Floridians, but Burmese pythons are an invasive species and a real threat to local wildlife, pets, and even children," police said. "If you see a snake please do not approach it. If the snake is a danger to you or the surrounding area contact 911."
