Florida woman credits sense of humor for viral 'Florida man' maternity photo

TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - A Tampa woman’s maternity shoot has gone viral, thanks to its “Florida man” aesthetic. But the mommy-to-be is still a little shocked by how much attention the picture has gotten.

“One day I was like, 'That would be a funny maternity shoot,'” said Lindsey Tuttle. “I’m kind of shocked it’s gone this far.”

Tuttle is nine months pregnant. She wasn’t into the traditional mommy-style shoot, so she came up with a theme that's all things Florida: flags, guns, beer, and gators.

“The idea came from the 'Florida man' articles because they're absurd and ridiculous and cracked me up,” she said.

Born and raised in Tampa, Tuttle works for a real estate marketing company. She and her husband tied the knot a year and a half ago. She says the reaction to her photo has been mixed, but she’s taking it in stride.

“For me, I like comedy and humor. This worked for me better, this is more representative of who I am,” she said. “The most surprising thing would probably be a lot of people don’t understand the joke and think that’s how I live my daily life. That’s OK. I don't mind. It makes me seem more exciting than I am.”
