Food assistance available for Irma victims

Those still trying to recover from Hurricane Irma got a little help Thursday.

People lined up at for food assistance at a FEMA event in Plant City.

Many who depend on food stamps to get enough food for their families lost everything if their power went out after Irma and they couldn't afford to replace spoiled food.

Those who were eligible signed up for disaster relief assistance which will be loaded onto prepaid cards so they can stock up their pantries again.

The Food for Florida Disaster Food Assistance Program for Hillsborough County runs through October 10 at the Plant City Stadium, located at 1810 E. Park Rd., Plant City, FL 33563.
