Fort Meade man suspected in robbery of 64-year-old Bartow man
BARTOW (FOX 13) - A 64-year-old Bartow man was robbed with the help of a suspected prostitute, and police say they are still looking for another suspect.
The victim was sitting inside a vehicle in the 200 block of U.S. Highway 17 South with a woman named, Jania Seawell, when another suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Isham Alexander of Fort Meade, approached the vehicle, according to Bartow police.
Detectives say Alexander grabbed the victim by the shirt and demanded his money. The victim said Alexander held a semi-auto handgun pointed toward his face and gave the robber his cash. After obtaining the money, Alexander fled, according to a media release. Investigators say they found discrepancies with Seawell’s account of events, and learned she met with the victim several weeks before offering her prostitution services.
Police say she knew the victim was carrying a large amount of cash, and arranged a robbery with the help of another acquaintance, Jamesia Smith. Both contacted Alexandria and planned to lure the victim to the robbery location.
Seawell and Smith were both arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit a robbery, armed robbery and armed burglary.
Alexander has not been found, and detectives say they obtained an arrest warrant for him. Anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to call the Bartow Police Department at (863) 534-5034
